Thanks to Alpha and the generosity of our customers, we are able to raise much needed funds for Variety - the Children's Charity. To date we have contributed over $100,000 and we look forward to working with Variety for many years to come to support the children of Queensland.
Mitchell is a bright and happy boy who has Spina Bifida, Epilepsy and Autism and is unable to walk. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, just like Alpha Car Hire, Variety has been able to assist Mitchell with a new wheelchair, allowing him to be independent & enjoy his sport and other activities.
Mitchell's mum, Lynette, sent this message that we wanted to share with you-
No words can describe how grateful we are. To the amazing supporters who take their own precious time to fundraise so this is possible, thank you.
To be able to see our son so independent, to see our son bring home a medal and a trophy for being aged champion in wheel chair races or just to see him at the park playing with other children, is something more than we could have imagined, and this is because he has the equipment that he needs, all thanks to the outstanding job that you do.
So please keep up the good work, because it really makes a huge difference in someone's life.
Ivy is a beautiful 13 year old girl with Angelman Sydnrome - a neuro-genetic disorder characterised by severe intellectual or developmental disability, sleep disturbance and seizures.
Ivy is from western Queensland and has grown up around horses. Riding is one of Ivy's favourite activities, but her parents are very busy on the property and with two people required to support Ivy on a horse and one to lead, it is often a case of there not being enough people and time in the day for Ivy to have a ride
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, just like the team at Alpha Car Hire, Variety was able to grant Ivy with a modified saddle and more recently funded a new horse for Ivy, after she tragically lost her previous horse in an accident.
Ivy's mother, Nina, has the following messages-
"I have found Variety to be an incredible charity. By nature of what they do, they seem to attract the most amazing group of people who genuinely get more out of giving than taking." said Nina.
"When Variety came through 'Peakvale' in 2010, we were completely blown away with the generosity and friendliness of all the different teams [in the Variety Bash]. Ivy loved it all and greeted every new team with enthusiasm and a beaming smile. Every zany car horn brought on hysterical laughter."
Kai , who has Cerebral Palsy, was the recipient of an iPad to assist with his communication. We wanted to share with you a heartfelt message from Kai's mother, Raylene:
Having the opportunity, to be given an iPad, will open the world of communication for Kai & allow him to speak for himself. If it wasn't for all the people & businesses who donate to Variety, we wouldn't have this choice or ability to give Kai this chance. To see his face light up & to sit back & watch him playing games, listening to music, independently, it just makes me all warm & fuzzy inside, if that makes sense. Seeing the smile & joy he has can brighten the dullest day. But most importantly, it shows HIM that he can do things for himself and that HE can have a voice. We cannot wait to see where this latest journey of discovering communication will take us. So from the bottom of our hearts, to all of those involved, we'd like to say a very very BIG thank you!
