Noosa: the Noosa National park boasts beautiful walks and great scenic views. After that you could take her to Noosa Beach, take a look at the shops and have lunch at the famed Hastings Street.

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland: the panoramic coastal views up here are breathtaking. Take a long scenic drive and check out the charming country towns of Eudlo, Maleny and Montville. There are also nature walks, wineries, delicious fudges and antique stores. All of which are bound to make your Mum happy.

Southbank, Brisbane: Visit the art galleries, museum and the cultural precinct. Take a walk along the Brisbane River. There are beautiful gardens to have a BBQ or heaps of great restaurants to choose from.

Mt Tambourine: there a literally hundreds of things to do in the beautiful region of Mt Tambourine, from art galleries to breweries and wineries. Or you can take Mum shopping along the Gallery Walk or at the Markets On The Mountain, which are being held on Mothers Day (May 10th) on the 6-acre Tambourine Mountain Showgrounds.

New South Wales

Parramatta: if your Mum is a bit of a history buff, then Parramatta is the perfect place to go this Mother’s Day. Visit Old Government House, which is the oldest surviving Government building in Australia. You can pay your respects at the NSW Lancers Boer War Memorial or take a look at Elizabeth Farm, an old colonial house built in the 1700’s.

Bondi Beach: take a walk along the coastal cliffs from Bondi to Coogee or relax on the beach all afternoon. There are heaps of places to eat, drink and shop in this popular tourist district.

Jenolan Caves: spoil your Mum and take her out on a day tour to this memorable landmark. Marvel at the stalagmites and stalactites and learn about the geology and history of the caves. Tours start at just $38 for a 1.5-hour adventure, giving you plenty more time to take Mum out to lunch or dinner.

Victoria

Yarra Valley Wineries: this has got Mothers Day written all over it. Take your Mum on a day trip out to the Yarra Valley wineries. Make a list of about four to five wineries, and pick one that you want to have lunch at. But remember, it is Mother’s Day, so don’t protest if you get stuck being the designated driver.

daylesford

Daylesford: Daylesford, and the nearby Hepburn Springs, are known for their spas. Buy your Mum a massage or facial, then go and explore the area’s historic buildings and shops. Perched on top of Wombat Hill, overlooking the town is The Convent. A 19th century mansion set on six acres, with a three level gallery, chapel and a museum. Also make sure to stop by the beautiful Lake Daylesford. You could even pack a picnic lunch, depending on the weather.

great ocean road

Great Ocean Road: take a full day tour along the famous Great Ocean Road. Drive down the Shipwreck Coast until you reach the London Arch. Stop for lunch somewhere along the way or take a walk at Kennett River. You can’t go wrong with this day trip, and your Mum will love the scenic stretch of Victoria’s coastline.

phillip island

Phillip Island: you can see a range of native wildlife and the famous Phillip Island penguins on this island. You will need a whole day, if not the whole weekend, to really appreciate everything that is on offer here. As the sun sets watch the Penguin Parade at Summerland Beach, as the little birds come home from a day of fishing.
